Back then, the brand’s eponymous founder pushed sartorial boundaries through subtle detail and texture, with animal prints becoming a steady influence. Here, the same instinct is presented through texture, with lacquered scales that catch the light across a network of winding straps, enveloping the foot with a distinctly serpentine rhythm. The effect is daring and seductive, echoing Balmain’s archival fascination with the natural world into something more sophisticated.
