La Rioja Alta is renowned for its classically styled, spicy Gran Reserva reds, which can be enjoyed immediately or left to age gracefully. For the first time in its century-long history, the Gran Reserva 904 has been designated a Selección Especial, a badge saved for the very finest vintages, and it's easy to see why: this 2016 red is deep in colour, with a nose of wild berries, black cherry, tea leaves, vanilla and tobacco.
