Anderson Valley in California has a cool climate and well drained soils that make it ideal for growing grapes suited to sparkling wine making, hence why in 1981 the house of Louis Roederer decided to set up a winery here to make Quartet NV. Made using the traditional champagne grapes of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay you would be hard pressed to distinguish this from a good quality champagne if tasted blind.
