Reigning as one of the most notable estates in Bordeaux and producing one of Pomerol’s most important wines, Château Petrus’ blends are endlessly collectable. The label dates back to 1837 – although it came into favour in 1962 when bought by the Moueix family – and grows its Merlot grapes on a seven-hectare, clay-based vineyard, where every berry is hand-picked after the morning dew has evaporated. The 1996 iteration is a full-bodied, opaque wine with sweet berries intermingling with earthy notes and high levels of tannins. This wine requires patience and is suited to be cellared until 2035.
