Founded in 2012, it is named for its designer, Gauri Kohli, who directs every form, material and finish.What It Is:A block of white marble with corners rounded to a near-continuous curve, carved into a mortar and pestle - the bowl cut deep into the top, the pestle a solid rod that rests inside it. Both pieces come from the same white marble, the gray veining running unbroken across the pair. Dense, cool, and low on any surface it occupies.The block is squared off and then softened at every corner, so from across a counter it reads as one solid mass with a hole in it rather than as a bowl on a base. The pestle's rounded head reaches the bottom of the bowl.
