Each channel holds a consistent depth and width, and the rim finishes in a shallow scallop. The stone is dense and weighty - that weight is not incidental to what the object does.a bottle stands upright and level inside, the walls thick enough to keep it cold through a long dinner, the base broad enough that a reach across the table will not tip it. The spiral channels give the hand a grip when it is lifted full.
