The Chianti Flaccianello by Fontodi is one of Tuscany’s best kep secrets: after all, it’s not everyday one stumbles across 90 hectares of vineyards producing organic grapes in soil that is classic galestro – that is, perfect for growing the Sangiovese grapes that provide this chianti with its rich, ruby red colour. Notes of dark cherries, violets and plums are complemented by hints of spice, while a wonderful structure and rich palate is offset by a racy acidity and fine, supple tannins.
