Castro Ventosa was founded by the Perez family in 1752 and is still family run. The soils are based on quartz and slate, producing Mencia wines of balance and freshness. Winemaker Raul Perez is one of the current superstars of Spanish wine with consultancies and projects all over the country, but mostly in his native North West.
