Celine is expanding its line of high-end fragrances with a line of candles. The idea, devised by Creative Director Hedi Slimane, is the brand's first candle collection, which is why you should be excited! Like the fragrances before them, these candles draw on Slimane's own personal memories and carry the same addictive powdery character. From the bars of his Beverly Hills favorites to Paris apartments and haute couture studios, these scented moments from the strike a match will transport you directly into Slimane's private life moments.
The collection consists of eight candles, all with evocative names. Six candles will be launched first, including one inspired by familiar nightclub from its original fragrance collection. New fragrances will also be included like Grands Lys, L'inventaire, Palimseste, Papiers FroissÃĐs and Tambour Noir. Two other scents, Illuminations and Silence Blanc, are scheduled for release later in 2022!
Following the tradition of the haute perfumer, each candle undergoes a meticulous production method developed by the brand's waxmaker, one of the very few artisans trained as both a waxmaker and a perfumer. A custom formulation of six to seven waxes and oils are utilized to design and recreate optimum fragrance notes and maintain the quality of the ingredients. It's a painstaking creative process that includes slow casting, and all formulas are only produced in small batches.Since the candles are made from black wax, each is housed in a luxurious black glass vessel, alongside an 18th century silver goblet to match. Designed by Slimane, the containers preserve the tradition of French glassmaking, by recapturing the lines of a typically french chic perfume bottle. The collection will also offer other chic candle accessories that pay homage to the tradition of indoor fragrance.
