Chanel’s Global Price Increases Are Exceeding 8000 Yuan In Some Models!

Famous brands are most affordable to the richer and it is set to remain that way with the likes of Chanel increasing its prices twice last year. The start of this year, we saw Chanel’s prices increase too. Key pieces such as many of the classic styles including Chanel 19, Boy Chanel and Classic Flap have all been affected. However, the brand’s Pre-collection will go on sale within the next few days. Without further ado, let’s look at the latest Hong Kong prices of Chanel handbags in 2021:

1. Chanel Classic Flag Bag

Chanel's most classic was the handbag with the highest increase last time. This time round, the medium CF25 broke the HKD $61,000 mark, and the price was increased by HKD 8,200. We assume the raw materials used to create the fundamentals are expensive hence the hefty increase.

2. Chanel Boy

Less popular model, Chanel Boy, also increased in price quite substantially. Chanel's fine calfskin Boy Handbag sold for HKD$37,500 last year and has since increased to HKD$41,900. Additionally, the calf Boy Chanel increased from HKD$41,000 last year, to HKD $45,500, with the large calfskin Boy Chanel increasing from HKD$43,400 to HKD$48,100. Overall, the average increase for the entire Boy Chanel collection exceeded HKD$4,500. The collections increases again could be down to the expense of the raw materials and labor. If you don't buy one at this price now, would you be willing to buy it at a higher price in the future?

3. Chanel's Gabrielle

Whilst Gabrielle previously was a smash hit, has since become outdated in style with this being reflected in its fare increase. The Gabrielle small Hobo handbags increased from HKD $34,000 to HKD $39,200; while large HOBO handbags increased from HKD $33,900 to HKD $41,900. Dating back to when the model first launched, the 20,000-tailed Gabrielle was already expensive and has since increased to over 40,000. It’s difficult to know whether this price adjustment will affect its attainability for fans.

4. Chanel 19

The Chanel 19 handbag undertook a small increase last time increasing from HKD $39,300 to HKD 43,700, whilst the large flap handbag increased from HKD $43,600 to HKD 48,100. The 19 is the latest release, and understandably was at a high price at its launch. The bag model’s starting price is set at 30,000!

5. Chanel 2.55

The classic Chanel 2.55 handbag has increased from HKD $52,800 to HKD $61,100; and the extra large handbag has increased from HKD $61,900 to HKD $70,400! With a price tag exceeding 70,000, will this jeopardize Chanel’s sales?
